Hyderabad: Congress terms fuel price hike inhuman

Hyderabad: The Congress Party leaders and workers on Saturday held protest programmes across the State demanding the roll back increased petrol and diesel prices in the country.

TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy took part in the protest programme held near Shamshabad mandal headquarters along with the party leaders and workers.

Speaking on the occasion Reddy termed the increase in the fuel prices as inhuman. He alleged that both State and Central governments were acting in an inhuman manner at a time shown the whole country was suffering from coronavirus pandemic and subsequent job loss.

He claimed that the BJP-led Central government had earned Rs 18 lakh crore during the last six years by increasing the petrol and diesel prices of the State and looting public money.

He said that fuel prices were within range of affordability during the UPA rule despite the fact that one barrel of crude oil was sold $120.

He said that the BJP government was looting the public money by increasing the fuel prices despite the fact that the price of crude oil was $39. He demanded the Central government to reduce the prices of the petrol and diesel immediately. Reddy later handed over a representation to a local Tahsildar with a plea to reduce the prices.
