Hyderabad: Congress to seek CVC probe into Kaleswaram
Hyderabad: The Congress party would lodge a complaint with the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) on the irregularities in the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation project and would seek a probe into them.
This was revealed by the leader of Congress Legislature Party in Assembly Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday. He spoke to the media along with MLA D Sridhar Babu. Vikramarka said that while people were suffering hardships in view of lockdown, the government called for tenders to take up the works of Kaleswaram to the tune of Rs 21,000 crore. Already the government incurred Rs 3.21 lakh crore debt. The new works proposed at Kaleswaram would take this amount to Rs 3.42 lakh crore. The CLP leader said that apart from this there would be an additional burden of Rs 8,000 crore on the exchequer due to internal works of the project. He said that they would take all the irregularities in the project to the notice of Vigilance Commission. The agencies which had been giving loans to the state government should examine the detailed project reports being submitted by the government, he observed.
Vikramarka noted that the Chief Minister had been muzzling the media and the opposition to suppress the facts. Due to the opening of wine shops in the State, all the strenuous efforts put in by the police as part of anti-Corona drive had been laid waste. Sridhar Babu said that due to the transport of sand, the spread of Corona would be high as no tests were conducted on those working at sand reaches. He said that the Centre rid itself from the responsibilities by announcing a small package. He stressed the need to announce a better financial package to bail out the country.
Sridhar Babu said that they would oppose the moves to deprive the state government of its rights in the power sector. He also criticised that private educational institutions had raised the fees despite the warnings of the state government.
