Hyderabad: Covid-19 suspect missing from Gandhi Hospital found dead in mortuary
Hyderabad: A man who is suspected to be infected with coronavirus has been found in the Gandhi Hospital mortuary 20 days after he was admitted to the hospital.
Narendar Singh, a native of Mangalhat in Hyderabad was admitted to Gandhi Hospital on May 31 with coronavirus symptoms and he has gone missing from the next day. Family of Narendar lodged a complaint with the Mangalhat police stating that they are unable to contact him over the phone. The police and the family looked for him throughout the city but lastly found him in the hospital morgue.
The police said that the body was shifted from Gandhi Hospital's casualty ward to non-COVID mortuary as '65-year-old' unidentified body. Meanwhile, the hospital staff claimed that they have not admitted any person with the name Narendar and has no idea how the body reached mortuary.
Narendar was taken to King Koti hospital after he complained to breathlessness and mild fever. He was later taken to Gandhi Hospital from where he last spoke to his family. On the next day, his phone was switched off and no one was able to contact him.
A complaint was filed on Narendar's missing on June 6. During the investigation, the police found Narendar's name in the out-patients record and no name was recorded in the admission register.
