Hyderabad: Dangling wires, tilted poles point to shocking apathy
Rajendranagar: Nevertheless, the government launched Pattana Pragathi programme from February 24 to streamline the power supply and to avert interruption in transmission during the summer season, no such initiatives appeared visible in the city outskirts especially in Rajendranagar.
Telangana State Southern Power distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) Rajendranagar division consists of five sub-divisions out of which three are operation divisions such as Rajandranagar, Kandukoor, Shadnagar while two are MRT and Construction divisions.
Dangling wires, broken and tilted poles, cables hanging loosely close to houses, live wires going through tree branches and most importantly dangerously open transformers in colonies and on the roads are the common scenes in Rajendranagar area.
As per the programme, it was directed to conduct a survey in each municipality and urban local bodies to identify the defects in electric supply equipment such as bent poles, rusted poles, loose spans, provision of streetlight phase, streetlight meters and replacement of defected ones, shifting of poles obstructing the free flow of the traffic and lines passing over houses.
However, the situation remained unchanged in Rajendranaga as residents in many colonies were complaining about not having proper cables in their localities and the officials were not responding even the matter brought to their notice.
I have made requests for power cables in my street on more than one occasion but the local officials of TSSPDCL at DE Office Shivrampally haven't paid heeds to the issue," rued Irfan Hussain, a resident of Shastripuram Colony.
"The officials and the sub ordinate staff of the electricity department are very quick to issue power connections to illegal industrial establishments in residential areas in Shastripuram but turned Nelson's eye to the issues of residents," said Mir Mushtaq Ali another resident of the same colony.
When contacted, the officials at DE office Shivrampally weren't responded to the calls made to them more than once.
