Hyderabad: Doctors deputed at Osmania Hospital continue to cry foul
Hyderabad: Three doctors posted at TIMS, Gachibowli and 20 house surgeons working in various departments have been posted to take care of Covid suspected cases coming to Osmania General Hospital(OGH). This after Junior Doctors (General Medicine) had voiced their protest from last few days over work burden and helplessness to take care of patients who are coming in big numbers of late.
There are 30 PGs in OGH General Medicine out of which some are in home quarantine while everyday five PGs are on 24-hour duty. While OGH Superintendent has written a letter to nine other departments to share the work burden by deputing some PGs for duties in Covid suspected ward there has been no communication from them.
While it was said the concerned HoDs might submit a list, Superintendent Dr Nagender said they have convened a meeting at Osmania Medical College along with Principal Dr Shashikala Reddy and HoDs on Tuesday to resolve this issue.
Dr Nagender said that General Medicine junior doctors skipping duties does not affect the treatment to patients. He said they were getting 50 to 80 suspected cases every day and trying to increase bed strength and lay new oxygen lines.
