ESIC Medical College develops device to monitor Covid patients (COVID BEEP)

Hyderabad: Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy, and Dr Jitendra Singh launched a device named Covid Beep, that will help monitoring the Covid-19 patients in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The 'Covid Beep' gadget is a wireless physiological parameter monitoring system for Covid patients developed in collaboration with ESI Medical College, Hyderabad, ECIL and other research institutions.

Addressing on the occasion, the Ministers said that the innovation would further bolster the efforts to fight the Covid-19. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy said Covid Beep would further strengthen India's healthcare infrastructure and facilities.

He said that the Centre has constituted the PM CARES fund with foresight to support large-scale research and development activities. The Minister commended the efforts of ESIC and other public sector players, who are constantly contributing to the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

"The Covid Beep device, which leverages an emerging technology, measures vital parameters of Covid-19 patients, like body temperature, blood oxygen saturation, heart rate, respiratory rate, ECG and blood pressure along with patient location," he added.

"The app remotely displays these parameters on a mobile phone, laptop, desktop computer, for monitoring by a doctor, from any place. In turn, it will help in an easier diagnosis and rendering timely treatment." the Union Minister of State for Atomic Energy, Dr Jitender Singh said that the device would help a lot in the country's fight against the Covid.

Soon it would be used extensively as part of the medical fraternity across the country, the Union Minister said.

On the occasion, Kishan Reddy also inaugurated a Bio Sensor lab, which will act as a common platform, for doctors and scientists, to work together in mixing cutting edge technology and medicine. He appealed to people to continue to follow the spirit of lockdown paying full attention to their health by taking necessary precautions and extend their cooperation to the efforts of the government's fight against

Covid-19.
