Hyderabad: Gandhi Hospital docs' row wades into murky waters
Hyderabad: Gandhi Hospital row is turning murkier by the day. After allegations and counter-allegations for the last few days between the hospital Superin tendent and doctor, against whom disciplinary action was taken, the hospital administration strangely barred the media for entering anywhere near the Superintendent's chamber on Friday morning.
However, there was some activity inside the storeroom where attendance logbooks of interns from last few academic batches were unboxed and kept on the table raising suspicion whether any cover-up operation was going on.
It may be mentioned that Dr Vasanth Kumar had alleged that interns were given certificates after taking huge sums despite them skipping mandatory house surgeon period.
After news channels started flashing videos of attendance log books spread everywhere in the storeroom with doors locked, the hospital administration tried hard to cover up stating that they were just arranging them in order.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Dr Shravan Kumar reasoned that Gandhi Hospital administration acted strictly and as per rules in case of interns attendance.
Accordingly, 60 interns who were found to skip their house surgeon duties, were given notice and asked to complete the mandatory house surgeon period despite them completing the stipulated duration of course.
Reacting to release of a few audios and videos attributing to him, Dr Vasanth, clarified that they were his personal ones and not anyway related to Gandhi Hospital.
The audio clip in which it was alleged that he was speaking to a medical student was untrue and the person on the opposite side of the conversation was a driver, Vasanth said. He said he was 100 per cent mentally fit and stable.
Later in the day, Dr Vasanth lodged a complaint against Gandhi superintendent alleging that the latter was trying to enter into his personal space and thus defaming him in the public.
He requested the police to take action against the Superintendent as per law.
