Hyderabad: Gated community fined for green massacre in Kukatpally

Kukatpally: Forest officials imposed a fine of Rs 53,900 to a gated community at Kukatpally on Friday for cutting trees in its premises.

It is learnt that Indu Fortune Field, a gated community, had cut 40 trees without seeking permission from Forest department. Forest department served show-cause notice to the gated community. The explanation by Indu Fortune Field that the trees were translocated to another location was not accepted by the forest department as the officials found that trees were cut. Forest department imposed a fine of Rs 53,900 for violating Walta Act along with an order to plant 80 saplings in the premises and protect them.

Medchal district forest officer Sudhakar Reddy and forest staff took the decision to impose fine after inspecting the premises.
