GHMC is on a mission to establish two Basti Dawakhanas in each division

The Basthi Dawakhana initiative is a collaboration of GHMC and Mission of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) to provide free primary health services to the poor people in the urban area.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has proposed to set up 45 Basti Dawakhanas in addition to already operational 123 facilities in the city while the government has sanctioned 227 more centers that would brought the number to total 350 in and around Hyderabad city.

Depending on the spatial distribution of the population, a Basthi Dawakhana will cater to 5,000 to 10,000 people.

GHMC is on a mission to establish two Basti Dawakhanas in every division across the twin cities.

During April 2018 and April 2019, their number went up from 17 in the first inauguration phase to 123
