Hyderabad: GHMC sees red over C&D waste dumping
Hyderabad: Mayor Bonthu Rammohan warned that GHMC would be imposing penalties on owners of properties for water stagnation. It would also act stringently against those responsible for littering and for dumping of construction waste on roadside.
Launching the 'Special Sanitation Drive' at Musheerabad on Monday, the Mayor called upon people to safeguard themselves from seasonal diseases, particularly in view of spread of pandemic (COVID-19), as entire family would have to bear the brunt.
Emphasising the precautions to be taken to avoid contracting dengue fever, he said that all the residents should ensure that water storages are cleaned and water does not remain stagnant within their premises. "At least in a week, entire household items where there is a possibility of water storage including drums, tanks, coolers, flowerpots etc should be cleaned. Similarly, all the plastic wastage, coconut remains and items on rooftops should be cleared off as part of precautionary measures," he urged.
Colony-level teams formed GHMC in coordination with colony welfare associations has already started clearing all roadside wastage, identifying and clearing water stagnation points, clearing fallen branches from trees, construction waste and debris as part of the drive which would conclude on June 8. Bonthu Rammohan called upon denizens to take active part in the drive and cooperate with GHMC officials, corporators and MLAs to ensure the city stays tidy and hygienic.
