Hyderabad: Giant Peacocks soon to be installed at KBR Park to greet visitors

Hyderabad: The Kasu Brahmananda Reddy (KBR) National Park spread over around 390 acres in Jubilee Hills is soon going to welcome its visitors with sculptures of two giant peacocks at its entrance. These sculptures are being installed by the Forest department as a part of the beautification of the urban lung spaces in and around the city.

Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Park, popularly known as KBR National Park is a vast area spread with rich greenery and rich fauna which is named after former Chief Minister Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, this park promises rejuvenating nature amid the concrete buildings and traffic of city life.

Speaking to The Hans India, P Venkateshwarlu, District Forest Officer(DFO), Hyderabad said, "KBR National park being one of the popular places to visit in the city, we are focusing on improving the facilities in the park. As a part of the beautification and development of the park, these two giant sculptures of peacocks are being installed at the entrance, Renovation of gates, mural work on side walls, shifting of ticket counter and installing a canopy inside the park is being done."

He adds further, "The estimate cost cannot be said as the renovations works are still going on."

The sculptures are 24 feet in length and 12 feet in height, Fiber glass covered with reinforced steel body which is yet to be completed. According to the officials, the total plan would take a few more days to get completed.

There are around 600 varied species of trees and plants trees in the park. The park has equally rich fauna. It has around 140 species of avian fauna along with 20 species of reptiles and 20 species of mammals. There are around 15 different species of butterflies as well.
