Hyderabad: Gold worth Rs 18 lakh seized at RGIA
The customs officials on Thursday seized 369 grams of gold from two passengers arrived from Riyad at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).
Based on the specific information, the officials questioned the passenger upon his arrival and while frisking, the gold was found.
The officials said that the passengers concealed the gold biscuits in special pockets of pants. The worth of seized gold is estimated to be of Rs 18,45,000. The customs officials took the passengers into custody and are investigating them. A case of smuggling was booked against them.
On November 4, the officials of customs caught a passenger arrived from Dubai with 71.47 grams of gold. The passenger concealed the gold inside the zip flier of his trousers.
