Hyderabad: High Court nod for Inter spot valuation

Hyderabad: On the spot valuation of Telangana Intermediate examination papers, the High Court on Tuesday consented to give go-ahead for the evaluation of papers. Hearing a PIL filed by a social activist, Katikala Omprakash, the bench comprising Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice K Lakshman permitted the Board of Intermediate Education to go ahead with the spot valuation of 9,65,000 Intermediate students' examination papers.

The Bench directed the State government to take all precautionary measures during evaluation of papers and be vigilant in taking security measures such as social distance, wearing masks, and good sanitisation in the surroundings of valuation centres. Detailed report on on advocates fund soug

A High Court Division Bench headed by Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice K Lakshman on Tuesday directed Advocate General Banda Shivananda Prasad to file a detailed report on the Advocates Fund of Rs 100 crore which the State government had allotted earlier.

Hearing a public interest litigation filed by advocate Rapolu Anand Bhaskar, the counsel for petitioner, M Rangaiah, explained to the bench that for the welfare of advocates, the State government deposited a fund of Rs 100 crore. During the crucial lockdown period due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many advocates, especially junior advocates, are facing many hardships to meet daily needs. The counsel requested the Bench to direct the State to draw only the interest of Rs 100 crore fund and distribute it among the needy advocates. Advocate General BS Prasad explained that recently the State government allotted Rs 25 crore for financial assistance to the junior and needy advocates. Process is on to extend the same, he added.

The Bench directed the government that the process is completed to distribute Rs 25 crore to the needy advocates. It also directed AG to file a counter affidavit on May 13.
