Representatives of Telangana Hotels Resorts Sales Professionals Welfare Association calling on Tourism Minister Srinivas Goud in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Representatives of the Telangana Hotels Resorts Sales Professionals Welfare Association (THRSPWA) met State Tourism Minister Srinivas Goud here on Tuesday and submitted a representation, urging him to come to the rescue of hospitality professionals who lost their jobs due to the lockdown imposed in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.

THRSPWA president Elvis Ronald and general secretary S Ravi Kumar, along with fellow board members Sheela Dave and Srikanth, said that due to the pandemic, hotel professionals had become jobless and came on to the roads literally. Unable to support their families and with no one to look into their grievances, they were badly in need of government help to survive, they told the Minister.

"We have been struggling since the start of the pandemic and pressure has been mounted so much so that one of our dear friends lost his life. He left his family of two kids who are at the schooling level and wife who is in a helpless situation. Paying the school fees, electricity bills and provisions etc has become so difficult. There are many facing the similar situation.

Though everything is being unlocked, hotels are the last to get unlocked," they said. Elvis Ronald urged the Tourism Minister to help the struggling hospitality professionals at the earliest. He said in a statement that the Minister was cordial and kind to receive them and promised them to look into the issue.
