Hyderabad image washed away in floods due to TRS-MIM duo
Hyderabad: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy alleged here on Sunday that the brand image of Hyderabad was being dumped in flood waters under the TRS-MIM rule.
Speaking at 'meet the press programme', he asked whether the State government was incapable of resolving the issue of urban flooding. The Secundrabad MP said the ruling party had promised the Musi River Front Beautification (MRFB) project on the lines of one in Ahmedabad. "It not only failed, but the river margins have been encroached."
Highlighting failure of TRS electoral promises, Reddy accused the government of letting down people with its double bedroom houses. "Not a single double bedroom house has been constructed in the last five years." He said the government promised to construct four super specialty hospitals. "It not only failed to deliver, but also locked doors of an existing hospital. It is yet to hand over the AIIMS building to the Centre", he pointed out.
The minister stated that stalling of major projects exposed lack of TRS commitment on development of Hyderabad. "The Metro Rail was not brought by CM KCR; in fact, the TRS-MIM stalled its works and did not allow its extension to Old City. In turn, the company had been asking for compensation of Rs 3,500 crore from the government."
Similarly, the State had entered into an agreement on MMTS phase II. But, the government had not contributed its share bringing the project to a grinding halt. Reddy asked the government where was its promised twin towers near Tank Bund.
He charged TRS with unleashing false propaganda to win the GHMC elections by dolling out goodies. "The TRS is not in a position to convince people. So, it is offering temporary concessions and rebates to woo voters to win".
The minister accused the ruling party of turning GHMC into a private limited company, while claiming that the civic body refused to give hoardings for poll campaign to any party other than TRS. Reddy claimed that companies had expressed inability to provide
hoardings to the party after officials concerned dictated terms to them.
The minister said development of Hyderabad was suffering at the hands of the two families of TRS-AIMIM. Several complaints were received against the ruling party leaders grabbing lands of people who had purchased them with hard-earned money. Reddy noted that the promised dump yards, markets, sports complexes have not seen the light of the day. "Several stadia are lacking maintenance".
He asserted that BJP has an inseparable bonding with Hyderabad. "If the party is elected for the Mayor post it will try to reduce corruption, to improve basic amenities and to put city on the development trajectory.'
