Hyderabad: Indian embassy twitter account blocks MBT leader
Chanchalguda : Considered to be 'bleeding-heart' of the NRIs, the MBT leader and activist, Amjedullah Khan's twitter account has been blocked by the Indian Embassy's twitter handle with which he remained in communication regularly, taking up cases especially those expats who face grave problems and unable to speak up in the Gulf nations owing to local norms.
Speaking to The Hans India, he confirmed that his account has been blocked and said "for reasons I don't know, they have blocked me." On Saturday, he also wrote a letter to Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, the Union Minister for External Affairs, requesting him to order through inquiry, whether the act was intentional or by mistake. "This is to bring to your kind notice that I have been highlighting the issues being faced by NRIs through my social media and had been successful in rescuing a number of women and men stuck up overseas. Majority of cases pertains to Gulf especially to Saudi Arabia," he emphasised.
Blocking any one on official twitter account is violation of fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution of India and curbing him from raising issues to solve problems, he added. He also marked a copy of the letter to Dr Ausaf Sayeed, the Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. There is strong feeling amongst his followers that the account could have been blocked intentionally, as Amjedullah has been campaigning against the CAA (Citizen's Amendment Act) and remains a core member of group.
