Hyderabad: Infographic on community transmission of virus goes viral
Hyderabad: An infographic tweet by India.in.pixels predicting 122 per cent community transmission chances in Telangana went viral on social media and messaging platforms. Citing Aarogya Setu as the data source, the firm stated Telangana has the most risk compared to Maharashtra (65 per cent) and Gujarat (45 per cent) leading in Covid cases in the country.
Meanwhile, when asked about this stat, the Telangana Health department termed it as plain mischief.
"The formula behind this infographic is the creation of a private person who is neither a doctor nor an expert. It is neither a scientific formula nor issued by the government.
The formula assumes that only 2,933 persons are in quarantine in Telangana which is an absolute lie. The actual number of people in quarantine in the State will be several times more than the given figure. But the organisation which created this infographic has conveniently ignored that fact," said the department. Also the Health department stated that infographic uses self-reported data from Aarogya Setu App which is not used by everyone.
The person who designed this himself says it is a not a prediction of 'severity' and does not make any claim about 'spread'. Hence this is complete misinterpretation of data and not a true reflection of the situation on ground, it clarified.

The metric is a ratio of active cases to quarantined people - higher the figure, higher the people out there that can spread the disease. pic.twitter.com/fnSMZExfmr
