Hyderabad: International Urdu meet slated for April in Nampally
Nampally: As part of government efforts to promote Telangana's second official language, the TS Urdu Academy (TSUA) will be organising an 'International Urdu Conference' in April.
Speaking to media persons at his chamber on Monday, Academy chairman Maulana Mohammed Raheemuddin Ansari said that as part of State government's effort to promote the Urdu language, the TSUA would be organising national and international events in the coming days. In April an 'International Urdu Conference' and also a 2-day All India Aalami Urdu Conference, with Mushaira was being planned. "Besides these programmes, the Academy is also ensuring implementation of different schemes and programmes initiated by the government every year, in connection with the promotion and protection of Urdu language and literature", he added.
Raheemuddin Ansari informed that the TSUA would be coming up with awards, namely Maulana Abul Kalam Azad National award, Makhdoom Award, Lifetime Achievement Awards, best Urdu teacher and best student awards. Besides these schemes like partial financial aid for publication of Urdu writers and poets books, publication of Urdu Academy's monthly magazine 'Qaumi Zabaan', aid to Urdu libraries in shape of books, financial aid to Urdu Newspapers, Magazines and Journals etc would be revived.
He said that Urdu Academy was inviting applications for Lifetime Achievement Awards (Awards on Aggregate Services) for 2018. Under this award there are seven awards in all six categories, including two in poetry, one each in criticism and research, one in education, one in promotion of Urdu and in journalism. The award comprises cash prize of Rs 50,000, besides a certificate.
Apart from this, for 2018-19 Urdu Academy is inviting applications for Best Urdu Teacher (with cash prize of Rs 10,000) and for Best Urdu Student (with cash prize of Rs 5,000) and also for manuscripts of Urdu writers and poets under the partial financial support scheme for the publication of books with cash prize of Rs 15,000 and Rs 18,000 (according to pages) in two installments, he noted.

medium students
To educate the state's second language Urdu among English medium school students, TSUA under the supervision of board of directors will constitute committee and decide and list out 10 English medium schools and teach Urdu language and the teachers will be provided by TSUA. He also said that the TSUA was also organising Urdu classes in institutions under banner 'Aao Urdu Seekhe' he added.
For younger generation and Urdu lovers belonging to all castes, TSUA was creating a social media App through which Urdu can be learnt including translation from other languages, chairman explained.
