Update: 2019-04-06 14:05 IST

The JNTU-Malaysian Township flyover has been thrown open to traffic today morning with a woman driving first on the flyover.

The flyover was built as a part of the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) with a cost of Rs 97.94 crore to ensure smooth flow of traffic between JNTU and Hitec City.

Though the works at the flyover were completed long ago, the GHMC officials put the inauguration on hold in the view of the election code. However, it has been inaugurated today after the IT employees and commuters demanded the GHMC to open it for traffic.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary Arvind congratulated the woman for driving first on the flyover. "JNTU- MalaysianTownship flyover or aka Rajiv Gandhi Statue Flyover opened for public.. the honour of driving first car goes to this madam... congrats madam," he tweeted.
