Hyderabad: KCR names barrage after Goddess Sammakka

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will visit Kaleshwaram project on Thursday and review the progress in the ongoing works at the project site.

As part of his visit to old Karimnagar district, he will visit Lakshmi Barrage constructed under Kaleshwaram. Before leaving for Karimnagar on Wednesday night, the CM also decided to name Tupakulagudem Barrage as Sammakka Barrage in the name of the great Adivasi warrior and Goddess of forest Sammakka.

An official statement said that the CM instructed the Chief Engineer Muralidhar Rao to issue an order naming the barrage as Sammakka barrage. The officials said that KCR will inspect the ongoing works at Lakshmi barrage to ensure the supply of irrigation and drinking water in the ensuing summer from the project.

He asked the officials from Pranahita to Lakshmi barrage that the flood water needs to be lifted from time to time and divert the same to the respective canals. The CM will also visit Kaleshwaram temple and offer special prayers during his stay in his Teegalaguttapally residence in Karimnagar.
