Hyderabad: KTR says Ignore coronavirus fears, relish chicken, egg

Hyderabad: "We eat chicken and egg regularly at my house. However, none of us has seen any effect in our health. I request everyone who eats chicken and egg to ignore such rumors," said KT Rama Rao, Minister of MA&UD, Industries and IT&C, here on Friday.

He was speaking at the first chicken and egg mela organised by Telangana Poultry federation, Telangana Poultry Builders Association, National Egg Coordination committee and all India Poultry Development and Services Private Limited.

On the loss in the poultry sector, Dr Ranjith Reddy, president of Telangana Poultry Breeders Association (TPBA), Member of Parliament & CMD of SR Hatcheries, said, "The poultry sector has suffered a loss of around 500 crore over the span of couple of months. Telangana is a poultry capital of India; it has affected around 25,000 poultry farmers."

Around more than 6000 kg of chicken was distributed to the local public who visited the mela and the mela saw more than 12,000 footfalls.
