Gachibowli: The Centre for Urdu Culture Studies (CUCS), Maulana Azad National Urdu University organized a Mahfil-e-Dastangoi on Tuesday at MANUU campus. Dastangoi is the traditional art of storytelling.

Theatre and television artists Poonam Girdhani and Rajesh Kumar teamed up to present the story "Dastan-e-Irfan-e-Budh" (Story about enlightenment of Buddha), showcasing the entire life of Gautam Buddha, attainment of enlightenment and promotion of Buddhism. Renowned storyteller Mahmood Farooqi is the director and Poonam Gardhani is the writer of this Dastan. The performance ended with a note, 'Isn't it better to spread love than hate.'

Nayantara Nandkumar, founder, Our Sacred Space said, "It was so gracious. It is the power of language, one is spellbound. With just voice, hand movement and expression they captivate the audience. Words such as phenomenal and mesmerizing fall short of describing the magic of their performance."

Dr Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice-Chancellor congratulated the artists for their mesmerizing performances. Professor Mohd Zafaruddin, Director Centre welcomed the guests. Anis Azmi, Chief Consultant, Cultural Centre introduced the guests and proposed vote of thanks.
