Hyderabad: Massive CRPC, IPP changes will speed up trials: G Kishan Reddy

Narayanguda: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy said that the central government is planning to bring several amendments in criminal procedure code CRPC and IPP to speed up trials related to women atrocities cases. He was speaking at the International Women's Day celebrations organised by Secunderabad Parliament constituency BJP in-charge Chaya Devi here at Tajmahal Hotel on Sunday. BJP state president Dr K Lakshman, MLC Ramachandra Rao, former minister Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, BJP Mahila Morcha state president Akula Lalitha and others attended.

Citing the Nirbhaya case in which the hanging of convicted criminals was delayed several times despite Supreme Court ruling, he said that the government was planning to make changes to criminal laws to ensure speedy justice. He said that women's associations, women judges and police officials would be consulted in this regard to bring about necessary changes in laws. Greeting women on behalf of prime minister Modi and home minister Amit Shwa, he said that women are greatly revered in India.

Quoting the saying that gods stay where women are revered, he said women were always retained important place in Indian culture. Lamenting the increasing violence against women these days, he said that it was unfortunate that such incidents happen in a country where the nation is called as mother, 'Bharata Mata'. Kishan Reddy said that central government would provide licences to women to run 'Jana House Stalls' in local colonies.

Later, the women who contributed significant services in various fields, were awarded with 'Samarth Mahila Awards.' A large number of BJP and Mahila Morcha leaders and activists attended the programme.
