Update: 2019-07-18 11:10 IST

Metro line between Hi-tec City and Raidurg is likely to be opened by August end since the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) is holding the final inspection of the overhead power lines.

The demand for the metro has been increased with the arrival of monsoon which left the roads inundated further ensuing to traffic gridlock at the IT corridor. To escape from the traffic snarls, passengers are opting for the metro to reach their destination on time.

Taking it into consideration, the HMRL decided to enhance its services to the passengers by extending the stretch to Raidurg. The officials intensified the works on the stretch leading to Raidurg which is 1.5 km from Hi-tec City and a part of the corridor III.

HMRL managing director NVS Reddy said that they will start the trail runs soon once the work is completed. However, no date was fixed by the authorities pertaining to the metro launch. According to sources, the works on the line will get completed by August end and the services may commence from September.
