Hyderabad: Minister Ch Malla Reddy presents prizes to hockey players
Secunderabad Cantonment: Organizing Secretary of the Telangana Hockey Association Muppidi Gopal, who is a former chairman of Bowenpally Market Committee, said here on Thursday that teams from 22 districts in the State had participated in a championship organised in Gymkhana Grounds, Secunderabad, for five days. Thursday was the concluding day of the event. Prizes were handed over to the participants.
Addressing the function, Labour Minister Ch Malla Reddy said the five-day championship was organised with the cooperation of Gopal and the association. He said if such events were encouraged youth could be persuaded not to get attracted to vices, while announcing that the State government had spent Rs one lakh for the benefit of the participants.
Reddy stated that it was a matter of pride that the championship was organised separately for men and women to encourage players, as they had chances of taking part in the national events. He complimented Gopal for the successful conduct of the tourney.
