Hyderabad: Mohammed Pahelwan dies of cardiac arrest

Barkas: The alleged mastermind behind the attack on MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi in 2011, Mohammed Bin Omer Yafai, who was popular as Mohammed Pahelwan died after he suffered a massive heart attack on Tuesday morning.

According to reports, in the wee hours of Tuesday, Mohammed Pahelwan complained of chest pain upon which his family members shifted him to Yashoda hospitals at Malakpet. He died while undergoing treatment. Doctors informed that he had suffered a massive heart attack. Soon after the news of his death spread, grief and sorrow gripped the Barkas area.

His body was shifted to his residence at Mohammed Nagar in Barkas. People thronged Pahelwan's residence and paid tributes. He is survived by wife, three sons and two daughters.

He was known to people beyond Old City after his arrest in Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi's sensational case, where he attacked in broad day light on April 30, 2011. However, On June 29, 2017 the Nampally Metropolitan Sessions courts had acquitted him.

Mohammed Bin Omer Yafai and other members of his family allegedly attacked Akbaruddin during his visit in Barkas. Later Chandrayangutta Police registered a case against fourteen persons under different sections.

Later the investigation was handed over to the Central Crime Station (CCS) which arrested all the accused and filed a charge sheet. The police claimed that the differences grew between the accused and the victim after they supported the arch rival Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) candidate during the 2009 general elections.
