Hyderabad: Move to hold LRS melas in newly-formed ULBs
Hyderabad: The Municipal Administration and Urban Development department to take up LRS (Layout Regularisation Scheme) melas in the newly-formed municipalities in the State.
According to the officials, the LRS mela would be made available in the new municipalities and the villages which were merged into the municipalities. Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao while reviewing the municipalities of Mahbubnagar, Gadwal and Narayanpet districts on Thursday, asked the officials to take up awareness in the newly-formed municipalities about the LRS facility. The minister said that majority of the population would be living in urban areas in the next five years, hence, there is a need for long-term planning. There is a need for a planned development as the towns are already populated. The new Municipal Act was brought with an intention of citizen centric services, said the minister.
According to the officials, the LRS would be available for the 43 new municipalities and the facility would be available till September. The minister asked the officials to take up development activities in such a way that it should reflect change in the districts of Narayanpet and Gadwal, which were made municipalities recently. The minister wanted officials to focus on roads, greenery, crematorium and other primary issues of all the municipalities of the three districts.
The minister asked the municipal commissioners to give importance to cleanliness and hygiene as rainy season was starting, to ensure there are no seasonal diseases.
