Hyderabad: Movie theatres likely to remain shut for next two months

Hyderabad: Minister for cinematography on Saturday said that the movie theatres will remain closed for the next two months in the view of the rising coronavirus positive cases in the state.

The minister said that even if the permission is given to open the theatres, the public won't be coming to the theatres over coronavirus scare and the social distancing go for a toss.

"Even if the lockdown is lifted on May 29, no permission will be given to movie theatres and shopping malls where it is difficult to follow social distancing," the minister said. The minister hinted that the theatres may resume screening movies in September and October.

He also said that the government has not decided yet on the start of the film and serial shootings. The permission for shootings also will not be given soon, he said. Meanwhile, the producers are planning to meet Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to accord permission for shootings.
