Hyderabad: Newly married woman dies after falling a part of concrete on her at Ameerpet Metro Station
A newly married woman died on Sunday evening after a part of concrete slab fall on her who stood below the Ameerpet Metro Rail to escape from the rain. The woman identified as Mounika, a resident of Kukatpally. The incident occurred in the evening hours between 4:45 pm to 5 pm and it created panic among the metro train passengers and the city commuters who pass below the Metro stations.
Immediately after the incident with the help of locals, Mounika's sister shifted her to a nearby private hospital where after observations the doctors declared her brought dead. On receipt of information the SR Nagar police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for postmortem. By registering a case police are investigating. On the other hand the Metro Rail management has started enquiry on the incident and they are going to make a statement on that. They are inspecting the information furnished by the eyewitnesses on the incident that due to the fall of a part of concrete on the woman she died.
Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) MD, N V S Reddy clarified that L&TMRHL has reported that a freak accident happened at Ameerpet Metro Station on Sunday evening hours when some small plaster piece fell off from a surface wall of the station. The sharp edge of the piece fell on Monica (24) a Software employee's head from about 9 meters height and she, unfortunately, succumbed to the head injury while she was being taken to a nearby hospital by L&T personnel.
