Hyderabad: Osmania University officials pulled up over not following quota norms

Osmania University: Telangana State SC, ST Commission Chairman Dr Errolla Srinivas on Tuesday held a review meeting in ICSR Hall with the OU officials on the implementation of the rule of reservation for the posts of professor and assistant professor, with stress on backlog posts. He also held discussions with SC, ST employees on the problems faced by the students.
Dr Srinivas reportedly told the officials that interests of SC and ST communities have been affected and severe injustice done to them for years because of alleged non-implementation of reservations.
He said that non-appointment of the reserved teaching and non-teaching staff has done injustice to many educated candidates.
The SC and ST Commission chief sought details of the implementation of the Simhadri Committee recommendations. He found fault with the varsity's alleged negligent attitude in admissions to PG courses and PhD on SC, ST ratio and with regard to fellowship to candidates pursuing PhD study.
Dr Srinivas suggested to the university authorities the need for achieving total success in giving special cooperation to SC, ST students enabling them to complete PhD study. He wanted OU to conduct training courses for SC, ST students on competitive examinations, while questioning why the competitive cell was wound up. He advised the officials not to show bias towards SC, ST students and to provide them all facilities extended by the State government.
Members of the commission Rambal Naik, Vidyasagar, secretary Panda Das, OU Registrar Gopal Reddy, OSD Krishna Reddy, besides other officials, attended the meeting.
