Hyderabad: PM Modi congratulates scientists for progress in vaccine trails

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the scientists for their progress in Covaxin trials. The PM was on a visit to Hyderabad to review the status of COVID-19 vaccine which is currently in phase-III trial.

The Prime Minister interacted with the scientists for about 45 minutes on the status of the vaccine. The scientists explained the current progress of the vaccine to the PM who later congratulated them. "At the Bharat Biotech facility in Hyderabad, was briefed about their indigenous COVID-19 vaccine. Congratulated the scientists for their progress in the trials so far. Their team is closely working with ICMR to facilitate speedy progress," Modi tweeted.


After interaction with the scientists, the Prime Minister left for Hakimpet airforce base to travel to Pune.

At present, three vaccines including Covaxin are in the phase-III trials. The PM made his visit to Bharat Biotech in Hyderabad, Zydus Cadella in Ahmedabad and Serum Institute of India which collaborated with Oxford University to prepare the vaccine - Covishield.
