Hyderabad: Principal of Nizamia Hospital tests positive
Hyderabad: In a big jolt to the frontline Covid warriors,5 medical staff of Government Nizamia General Hospital (Charminar Dawakhana) have tested positive for Covid-19. Two nurses, one female attender and a sub-ordinate staff had already tested positive and the latest is the Principal of the college and Additional Director (Unani) of AYUSH. He is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
According to hospital sources, the principal was suffering from mild symptoms and had been on and off fever for the last 7 days. He was experiencing coughing, body ache, joint pains etc. and on June 18 sample was taken and on June 21 the test result showed him as positive. His primary contacts at the hospital are kept in observation.
Sources said, "As the government declared a quarantine rotation system for medical staff, as 7 days working and 7 days quarantine, this is being implemented at all Covid-19 treatment hospitals including Gandhi Hospital. But it is yet to be implemented at the Nizamia Hospital." They said the government should conduct Covid-19 tests for all the medical staff of the hospital, sanitise the whole hospital and shut medical services to stop the virus from spreading. It should also implement quarantine system for the doctors at the hospital.
