Hyderabad: Protecting mother tongue our responsibility: Vidya Sagar

Begumpet: Telugu language was being sidelined due to extensive use of foreign languages, said Ch Vidya Sagar Rao, former Governor of Maharashtra. He was speaking at a programme organised on the occasion of International Mother Language Day in Tourism Plaza, here on Friday. He said, "In the world of 3,000 recognised languages, every language has its own prominence. It is the responsibility of society to protect and use mother language with priority. Mostly, people are being influenced by usage of foreign languages, which are providing them employment."

K V Ramana Chary, Advisor for Telangana Government was felicitated with 'Vishista Puraskar' by the former Maharashtra governor. Speaking on the occasion, Ramana Chary said, "Among the numbers of felicitations I have received in my entire life, this is most prestigious and favorite one. Love towards my mother tongue is inexpressible and I feel my responsibility to protect our mother language and mother earth. I will do that wholeheartedly".

Several cultural departments of Hyderabad and Telangana also felicitated K V Ramana Chary, Dr Pathipaka Mohan, Editor in Telugu NBT, Dr Velichala, Padmasri Dr Kolakaluri Enoch, Channaiah, Teja Arts president Dr Poreddy Rangaiah and others were present.
