Protesting teachers detained at Indira Park

Hyderabad: The area of Indira Park on Friday witnessed chaotic scenes as the government teachers were on a roll and did not want to move an inch from their place.

But the police was also adamant to disrupt the protest, as there were clear instructions from the higher officials of the Police department that nobody will be allowed to protest or enter the Assembly when the session is going on.

The Teachers Union of Telangana State gave a call for 'Chalo Assembly' to highlight various issues being faced by the government teachers. The main demands of the union were to regularise the contract employees, grant PRC and give pension to the senior teachers.

The women teachers while interacting with the media said that the government of Telangana is not bothered about teachers and is giving a deaf ear to their demands.

A teacher also pointed out that the Telangana statehood was achieved only because of the active cooperation by teachers, if not the statehood would remain a dream. But, it's apathy to witness such a scenario wherein the teachers are manhandled by the State force.

Another teacher, while questioning the government through media noted, "The reason for our dharna today is because the government is not listening to our woes. If the government listens to our issues, then why would we protest here by leaving our work behind?"

All the protesting teachers were taken to different police stations in the city. However, they were released by the evening.
