Hyderabad: Rare species of Aves sighted in the city amidst lockdown
Hyderabad: With human beings under complete lockdown due to coronavirus, the warbler friends of all hues are been spotted across the city like never before.
Bird experts and birdies say many rare species such as lesser white throat and Hume's white throat are regularly are being sighted across the city, which was not the case before.
Anand Kalinadhabhatla, a birdie from Hyderabad recently spotted Hume's white throat from his house in Gachibowli, the Hume's may not be very rare but it is considered to be a shy bird and is not sighted as often.
When asked about the same to A Surekha, Secretary Deccan Birders society she explained, "The Telangana state has around 400 different species of birds Noise pollution is minimal and as a result, there is more bird movement even in urban areas that are the reason rare and shy birds like lesser white throat and Hume's white throat are spotted across the city. Before lockdown, the bird sounds use to be heard till 8 am but now we can hear it till 11:30 am too."
"The number of sighting of existing species has definitely gone up. Birds like tailor birds, sunbirds, Asian koels and ashy prinias are more often sighted from our balconies since the lockdown, for which one had to go to outskirts of the city," she adds further.
One can spot at least 10 different bird species from urban homes that have some green cover says Surekha, "Now is the best time to appreciate the natural world around us there's so much to see, and birding can makes one relax and stress-free, a much-needed thing at the moment for many," concludes Surekha.
