Hyderabad: Rebuild graveyard in Medina, demand Shias
Hyderabad: Demanding that Saudi Arabia rebuild the Jannat-ul-Baqi, the graveyard in the holy city of Medina, thousands of Shia Muslims on Monday signed a letter that will be forwarded to the United Nations and Saudi Arabia.
On the occasion, a protest was organised by the general secretary of Hyderi Educational and Social Welfare Society & BJP Minority Morcha leader Mir Firasat Ali Baqri. As many as 10 protest camps were set up across the Old City.
"Several decades ago, Saudi Arabia demolished the cemetery where about 7,000 Islamic personalities, including the members of the Prophet's family were buried. Muslims in India have been demanding that the cemetery be restored to its original shape," he demanded.
