Revanth Reddy alleges KCR conspiring to devastate Hydel Power Projects
Hyderabad: Congress MP from Malkajgiri A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday alleged that there was a big conspiracy behind the attempts to expand the Pothireddypadu Head Regulator of Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing the media, he said that apart from South Telangana going dry the power generation capacity of Telangana would be hit hard by the expansion of PRP Head Regulator.
He said that Chief Minister of Telangana has been supporting the statements of AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy that AP would use only 29 TMC of water through PRP. He said that power is generated through Srisailam, Nagarjuna Sagar and Pulichintala Projects.
He said that former Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy has demanded in the past that Krishna water should be allocated on the basis of power consumption. Telangana has been given 54 per cent share in power generation capacity of erstwhile combined Andhra Pradesh but not in allocation of water.
He said that if water is taken away from Pothireddypadu by Andhra Pradesh Srisailam would not get a single drop. If power generation at Srisailam is stopped darkness would envelop Telangana.
He said that the Chief Minister has been conspiring to devastate hydel power projects of Telangana. He said that the private power generation companies are lobbying with the government for this. The MP revealed that it was Chandrasekhara Rao who has served former Chief Ministers Chandrababu Naidu and YS Rajasekhara Reddy. He said that Chandrasekhara Rao in the past has sold his party MLAs to get a Congress MLC elected.
