Hyderabad: Rs 10 crore approved to improve air quality
Around Rs 10 crore has been approved under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) to improve the quality of air in Hyderabad. The funds will be utilised to set up air quality monitoring stations and more.
It is learned that the city would get five Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (CAAQMS) this year and two more in 2020 with different budget. According to the Telangana State Pollution Board (TSPCB), there are six air quality monitoring stations in the city.
The systems will be set up after analysing the site in such a way that it should represent residential, commercial and sensitive areas, said an official from TSPCB.
However, the entire process takes longer as tenders have to invited for setting up the stations. Hyderabad is the only city to have air quality monitoring systems in the country.
