Hyderabad: Schoolchildren learn about poultry process

Rajendranagar: On the occasion of National Science Day, the ICAR- Directorate of Poultry Research, Rajendranagar organised an exhibition for schoolchildren to learn the process of raising of birds as well as egg production.

Students from different schools of Rajendranagar such as Guru Nanak School, Kishan Bagh, Krishi High School, Bharati Vidya Bhavan School and MS Mission School in Hasan Nagar visited the exhibition and had a firsthand experience of nests, chicks, birds as well as eggs. The schoolchildren were informed about the poultry process, raising of birds, feeding process and scientific way of production of eggs in the facility.

The exhibition showcased new technologies, varieties developed by the institute and information on chicken and eggs was also organised on the premises. About 500 school children from different Schools of Hyderabad visited the institute where several stalls were installed o stimulate the young minds about the scientific process involved in poultry production.

Schoolchildren were allowed to taste boiled eggs during their visit while they also interacted with the officials and poultry professionals during the programme.

The exhibition coincidently comes at a time when misconceptions that coronavirus may spread from the use of poultry looming large.

However, the physicians and experts allay the fears by advising that coronavirus doesn't spread through consumption of chicken, meat and fish. Poultry Technical Officer S Ravi Kumar, ACTO D Pratap, Veterinary farm In-charge Dr Prasad, Veterinary College Professor Vinod, Horticulture University farm In-charge Mallesh, Dairy farm In-charge Suresh, Director & Principal MS Mission School Hassan Nagar Mohd Shoukat, Head Mistress Mubeen Sultana and teachers were among the visitors turned up for the programme besides the schoolchildren.
