Hyderabad sees a rise in air pollution levels

With an increase in the vehicular traffic, the Air pollution levels in Hyderabad seen a sudden rise following the relaxations in the lockdown.

The city has seen a significant improvement in the quality of air with the vehicles staying off-road after the announcement of lockdown. Also, the closure of Industries brought down the pollution levels in Hyderabad.

According to the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB), the Ambient Air Quality (AAQ) in several parts of the city including Zoo park, Sanathnagar, IDA Pashamylaram and Hyderabad Central University (HCU). It is estimated the pollution levels in the city would increase further once the employees who have been working from home since the lockdown return to their offices and when the city buses hit the road.

Currently, 60 lakh vehicles hit the roads when the government eased the lockdown norms.

The government has accorded permission for the district buses, auto-rickshaws and cabs last week. However, the city buses continued remained off-road until further notice from the government.
