Hyderabad sees hottest day of the year, records 44.4 degree Celsius

Hyderabad: With the heatwave getting intensified across the state, Hyderabad has seen a tremendous rise in the temperature recording at 44.4 degree Celsius on Saturday. While the Jagtial district in Telangana recorded at 47.2 degree Celsius highest in the state.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), heatwaves are to be continued till May 26. IMD director K Naga Ratna said that the rise in temperatures is due to the flow of dry winds from the North-West parts of India over Telangana and Andhra Pradesh due to the Cyclone Amphan.

Districts like Adilabad, Jagtial, Nizamabad, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Khammam, Mahbubnagar and Suryapet will be most affected. Heatwave conditions were also seen in the North Coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. In Andhra Pradesh, Kurnool recorded a maximum temperature of 44.5 degree Celsius.

On the contrary, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will witness light rains after May 26.
