Special sanitation drive in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Mayor Bonthu Rammohan on Monday stated that the special sanitation drive conducted in the city from June 1 to 8 yielded good results due to active participation of corporators, public representatives, resident welfare associations and Colony associations. He said that as per the instructions of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Minister K T Rama Rao, an action plan was implemented in all wards. During the programme, engineering and electricity staff joined the sanitation wing to make public places clean and hygienic.

A total of 4,131 km of roads in length was covered during the drive, covering 1,516 open plots. The civic body cleared 4,198 metric tonnes of garbage. As many as 12,437 metric tonnes of construction waste and 4,066 tonnes of other material and weeds were also removed from nalas.

Mayor appealed to all the citizens to maintain cleanliness in and around their residences and suggested to them not to throw debris and wastages in nalas and on road sides.

New bus terminal to come up In order to ease the traffic congestion at Secunderabad Railway Station, the GHMC will be coming up with a bus terminal with latest design.

Bonthu Rammohan who chaired a review meeting on Monday in the presence of Secunderabad Zonal Commissioner B Srinivas Reddy, S E Anil Raj, CRMP agency, UNI Ads and Prakash Ads discussed about the designs provided by the agencies.

He suggested modification of the designs in view of the proposed Metro Station and Skyway from Railway station. He asked the officials to ensure separate toilet blocks are designed for men and women.
