Hyderabad: State seeks good flow of Central funds for irrigation projects

Hyderabad: State Finance Minister T Harish Rao has requested 15th Finance Commission to extend financial assistance liberally to Telangana for mega projects mainly Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation scheme and Mission Bahgiratha taken up by the Telagana government.

Harish accompanied by State Finance Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao met the commission chairman NK Singh in New Delhi and submitted a memorandum on behalf of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao seeking increase in the fund flow from the Centre to the State.

The Minister explained Singh the challenges being faced by the Telangnaa government in the completion of the big projects.

He said that the government projected Rs 52,941 crore fund requirement for the operation and maintenance(O and M) of the lift irrigation projects (Rs 40,169 crore) and Mission Bhagiratha ( Rs 12,772 crore ).

"The government requested the commission to provide additional allocation for the State specific needs for the year 2021-22 to 2025-26 for the O and M components of the lift scheme and the Mission Bhagiratha launched for the supply of safe drinking water to all households in the State," Harish said.
