Telangana government puts pending National Highway works on fast track

Hyderabad: At last, the long pending National Highways projects are set to be completed in a time-bound manner in Telangana.

After NHAI (National Highways Authority Of India)pulled up the government for the delay, the State created a mechanism to address the issue through inter departmental coordination committees to complete the works on a fast pace.

At a high-level meeting, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar directed the officials to expedite pre-construction activities pertaining to the highways in the State. The Union government had sanctioned new highways on a stretch of 1200 kms and the works were pending due to delay in land acquisition, clearances from the Forest department and the removal of pipelines laid under Mission Bhagiratha.

Somesh asked officials to prepare the districtwise pending issues to follow up with the District Collectors and ensure the completion of the work in a time-bound and coordinated manner.

The officials discussed the pending issues related to Forest, Metro Water Works, GHMC, Transco, Mission Bhagiratha departments for the construction of National Highway Projects.
