Hyderabad: Three Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) projects are slated to be inaugurated in the next two months. SRDP construction works have been taken up with top priority, taking advantage of Covid-19 lockdown. Biodiversity flyover to is be thrown open first on May 25. Next comes the Road No 45 flyover which will be opened July 30.

"Unless the Road Number 45 flyover is thrown open, the cable bridge cannot be accessible so we are inaugurating both the projects Durgam Cheruvu Cable bridge and Road No 45 flyover on the same day on July 30," said D Bharadwaj, Deputy Engineer, GHMC, Kondapur.

After pressure on GHMC higher-ups and regular inspections of construction works of projects at different places on a regular basis has made the deadline possible and also the lockdown helped GHMC for early inauguration of projects. Works are being executed round-the-clock and the labourers are working in shifts. Sometimes they are made to work in double shifts to complete the works on time.

Briefing about the construction status of the projects, Bharadwaj said, "Bio-Diversity flyover is a three lane unidirectional flyover with 690m length and width of 11.50m and constructed from DCP office (Gachibowli) to Shah Ghouse Restaurant (Manikonda) crossing Bio-Diversity junction. The 1964.63 lakh project construction is 98 per cent completed and once it is thrown open on May 25, it will end traffic hassles at the junction." In the same way, the 150 crore budget flyover on Jubilee Hills Road No 45 addresses the issues of major traffic congestion in areas such as Madhapur and Jubilee Hills towards Hi-Tec City. The project would benefit commuters from Panjagutta, KBR, Jubilee Checkpost proceeding towards Mindspace and would reduce the travel time by a few minutes.

The multi-level flyover construction at Kondapur is also on fast-track as GHMC received clearance from forest and traffic departments. It will help ease traffic in Kothagudem and Kondapur junctions.
