Hyderabad to have 132 new Basti Dawakhanas

Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation authorities are planning to start 132 new Basti Dawakhanas in the city in the next three months. The Corporation is starting 45 new Basti Dawakhanas in the State from Friday including 22 in Hyderabad, 15 in Malkajgiri, five in Rangareddy and three in Sangareddy. The first Basti Dawakhana was started in April 2018 at BJR Nagar in Malkajgiri.

The plan was to provide free medical services to the people in the city and it was decided to have one Basti Dawakhana for a population of 5000 to 10,000 in the constituencies. The Basti Dawakhanas increased to 123 by April 2019. Government decided to increase these to 300 in the state and based on these 45 new are being opened on Friday. The remaining 123 would also be started in the next three months by the GHMC.

The Basti Dawakhanas provides outpatient consultations, tele consultations, basic lab tests, immunisation, family planning counselling, blood and blood pressure tests etc. Everyday about 80 to 90 patients get OP services and 10 to 20 get services for fever and 40 to 50 persons get different diagnostic services.
