Hyderabad: TRS ratchets up 'Operation Aakarsh' to ensure Kavitha's victory
Hyderabad: In its bid to save the Legislative Council seat to be elected through local authorities' constituency for Kalvakuntla Kavitha, the TRS leaders have initiated 'Operation Aakarsh' in Nizamabad district even at the time of corona.
According to party leaders, the party leadership has entrusted the responsibility of ensuring the victory of Kavitha to the Nizamabad district unit and already the leaders have swung into action with their 'Operation Aakarsh'.
So far the TRS leaders were successful in grabbing three corporators of BJP in the Nizamabad district. The party leaders first joined a ZPTC of BJP from Nandipet Yamuna Mutyam, who joined TRS in the presence of Armoor MLA A Jeevan Reddy. On the very next day, the ruling party gave a big blow to the saffron party by including three corporators.
On Friday, the BJP corporators including Vikram Goud (division 8), Sadhu Sai Vardhan (division 9), Battu Raghavendra (Ramu) (division 50) joined TRS in the presence of Legislative Affairs Minister V Prashanth Reddy and MLA B Ganesh Gupta. The corporators said that they joined TRS as they were impressed with the development works by the government headed by chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The electorate in the Council LAC seat are the elected representatives of local bodies like Corporation, ZPTC etc. In the Municipal elections, the BJP was single largest party by winning 28 seats in Nizamabad Corporation followed by MIM 17 and TRS 12. Two seats were won by Congress one was bagged by an Independent. However the TRS bagged the corporation with the help of its alliance partner AIMIM and ex-officio members.
The council seat of Nizamabad Local Authorities Constituency got vacant after the disqualification of TRS member R Bhoopati Reddy in January 2019. The ruling party had selected former MP Kavitha as the candidate for the council seat. The Election Commission of India too had announced schedule and polling was scheduled on March 19 but it was postponed because of coronavirus threat.
The ruling party had already initiated the camp politics but it had to stop after the spreading of Coronavirus. The party had to face embarrassment in Lok Sabha elections as the daughter of the chief minister got defeated in the elections. This time the party is not willing to take chances and already started its action plan to wrest the seat.
