Hyderabad: TRS reduced civic polls to farce: Uttam
Hyderabad: TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday said that he would speak about the judiciary in Telangana in Lok Sabha during its budget session.
Addressing a press conference along with MP KVP Ramachandra Rao, MLC T Jeevan Reddy, PCC EC Coordination Committee chairman M Shashidhar Reddy, member G Niranjan, MLAs Jagga Reddy and Seetakka, he said that people of the state have been humiliated in municipal polls.
Uttam accused TRS working president and MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao of spearheading the large-scale irregularities in the entire process of municipal elections.
"Despite Congress party having a majority in Nereducherla municipality in Suryapet district, TRS government and State Election Commission brazenly misused and abused power and manipulated the election of Chairperson and Vice Chairperson on Tuesday," he said while pointing out that Congress had 8 seats while TRS had only 7 seats.
He said that election of chairperson in Nereducharla would reflect the way municipal elections have been conducted in the State. He said that the name of Rajya Sabha MP KVP Ramachandra Rao was included as ex-officio member after Congress party furnished documents pertaining to Rajya Sabha which clearly says that he represents Telangana State.
He alleged that the voter list of the chairperson election has been changed hour to hour ostensibly on the instructions of Minister KT Rama Rao. He alleged that the Minister himself spoke to Election Commissioner Nagi Reddy and other officials to get the name of MLC Subhash Reddy included in the voter list.
He alleged that the public money looted through Mission Bhagiratha and other schemes was used to win the municipal elections.
He said there were unconfirmed reports and a reference given by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao himself in a press conference of him having discussion with the Chief Justice on issues which were pending in the court.
He said that the Congress party would take up the matter with the President of India and also with Chief Justice of India.
