Hyderabad: Congress leaders on Saturday said that they were weighing all legal options to unearth discrepancies involved in awarding Irrigation contracts. Party leaders alleged that TRS was bestowing contracts to turncoats compromising on the quality of several projects, including Kondapochammasagar that lead to its canal breach.

Speaking to media persons at his residence in Banjara Hills, the TPCC president, N Uttam Kumar Reddy who recently made a visit to Kondapochammasagar held that this was an example of how projects were being constructed under TRS government. "If the quality of canal which is close to farmhouse of the Chief Minister can breach due to poor quality and destroy farms around it, you can assume strength of all the projects including Kaleshwaram. Work worth Rs 400 crore was bestowed on turncoats like Paleru MLA, K Upender Reddy and TRS MLC, K Prabhakar, who should be brought to book over poor quality," he said.

Uttam Kumar also cast doubts on the tender process of other major projects including Dummugudem, Medigadda and others. He also emphasised that some companies without expertise were handed Rs 10,000 cr worth contracts. "This is a question of Rs 3.5 lakh crore and the government should be made answerable to people," he added.

Former Minister, Shabbir Ali said that the Congress would take legal course to bring to book all those involved in poor quality constructions that caused breach to the canal and damaged crops. Blaming the public representatives of TRS who procured contracts, he said that these turncoats left Congress after winning people's votes and are now engaged in poor quality works to fill their coffers.

While demanding Vigilance Inquiry, the CLP leader, Bhatti Vikramarka alleged that TRS leaders were now engaged in exploiting all the State's resources and distributing contracts amongst themselves in quid pro quo deals. Former Minister, Nagam Janardhan Reddy also spoke.
