Two infants among six die of Covid-19

Hyderabad: Two infants were among the six who died of Covid-19 even as cases continue to rise in the state on Saturday.

Wanaparthy, which was a corona-free district so far, reported its first Covid case. Apart from GHMC limits, eleven districts in the State have reported one or more cases in the last week resulting in some of them to lose their green zone status.

As many as 74 new cases were reported with GHMC accounting 41 of them in the last 24 hours. THE overall State tally thus rose to 2499 so far.

A nurse working in Railway Hospital, Mettuguda was found to be infected with virus. Few days ago, she attended elderly patient in the hospital, who later tested positive for the virus. The nurse is resident of East Anandbagh in Secunderabad.

Of the fresh cases, 60 were local cases while 14 comprised migrants and deportees. Apart from two infants, the rest of the four (all male) had diabetes, hypertension or cardiac issues and were between 47 to 58 years of age.

One of the infant was 24-day old who was a preterm baby while the other was 3 months old boy had cardiac disease also.

Meanwhile, the State Health department conducted Covid tests on scribes and camera persons from the national media based in Hyderabad.

Of them three (camerapersons from ANI, India Ahead and Times Now) and one senior reporter were found to be infected with the virus. All of them were asymptomatic at the time of giving their samples.
